Gulf to Bay Chorus Leadership

Gulf to Bay Chorus thrives because of the energy and style of the people who have stepped up to lead. Here are a few of the people that make our ensemble tick:

Denise Helbig - Director

You could say that music and singing have always been in Denise Helbig's blood.  From teenage to adulthood, Denise has actively pursued musical challenges and vocal excellence through performance, direction and education. As a Sweet Adelines Regional faculty member, Denise has been an active coach, Director's Coordinator and Director of Youth Activities.  She has facilitated Youth Harmony Workshops in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties since 2001.  In a program that has been approved by the State of Florida and the county superintendents, these full-day workshops have introduced more than 20,000 middle and high school chorus students to

 the art of barbershop harmony.

Lisa Deprez - President

Lisa has been around barbershop singing most of her life as both her mother and father and then her brothers all sang in choruses.  Through her Sweet Adelines career she has harmonized with Toast of Tampa and Harmony Harbor.  With the demands of being a working mother, Lisa took a break from the barbershop world for a few years.  She has been with Gulf to Bay for five years.  In addition to her administrative service to the chorus, she also designs and teaches the choreography for our performances.

Music Team

Barb Kunath 

Barb is our Bass section leader and joined Sweet Adelines in 1993 with no singing experience but a great love for music.  She credits the organization and its gifted singers and teachers she's been blessed to work with for her advancement in the craft.  Barb has sung in two competing quartets, one of which placed in Region 9's top 10.  She enjoys the friendships and helping members be the best they can be!

Camille Sanabria

Camille Sanabria is our Lead section leader and has been a member of Sweet Adelines International since 1996.  She feels her calling in life is to uplift people to their best potential and loves to accomplish this through music.

Linda Gundel

Linda is our Baritone section leader and a civil engineer. She is passionate about her music and considers it an honor to assist others in striving for excellence in our craft. Singing together is a wonderful way to build lasting friendships!

Iris Gantz

Iris was previously the tenor section leader for Melodeers Chorus in Northbrook, Illinois (late 70's/early 80's) and Harmony Harbor Chorus in Dunedin. She sang with Twilight Zone and Sensation quartets, and currently sings with Region 9's third place quartet, Ladybug.  She loves singing with all her chorus "sisters" and sharing our music with audiences whenever the opportunity arises.
